The 2025 ME/CFS Valentine's Day Challenge!
Accessibility: Listen to this post
For some of us, Valentine’s Day is really important and for others it doesn’t mean as much. But I think we all feel the sting of a day devoted to love when we are either too sick to be in a relationship, or our relationship is severely limited by ME/CFS.
And besides relationships, there are people I love and wish I could connect with better and hang out with and talk to for hours in person! And I can’t because of ME/CFS.
So a lot of us feel more alone today than usual; Surrounded by roses and hearts and people doing romantic things that we cannot do like dates and trips and long talks and making love.
We may not be able to have the relationships that we want, but we do have each other! And we can love each other and spread that love through the ME/CFS community and beyond!
I want to challenge every single one of you to think of 2 people you love and reach out to them today, on Valentine’s day, and tell them that you love them and you are thinking of them and you care about them. Love is not exclusive to intimate relationships, friends and family can love each other too!
You don’t have to expose some long flowery message, it can be short and sweet. People in this community including patients, caregivers, supporters, friends, doctors, etc hearing on Valentine’s Day, from someone they care about saying that you love them and why will have a huge impact on their lives and really lift them up. We can lift each other up.
Are you with me? Can you please all take the 2025 ME/CFS Valentine’s Day Challenge and reach out to 2 people you love and tell them you love them and why?
You will make their day. And if we all do this, it will have a ripple effect and reach through the ME/CFS community and none of us will feel alone or unloved today.
Because the truth is that none of us are unloved. We just feel that way sometimes and need a reminder.
